Homecoming Scotland 2009
My daughter recently celebrated her 3rd birthday. Being just two & twelve months and therefore short on ‘concept of time’, the celebration of her birth ran right through the weekend (because she kept being reminded of it by her older sister), with the finale culminating in a party with 22 other likeminded, high on energy low on rationale, contemporaries. Our events calendar over said weekend, was exhaustively extensive and I have returned to work for a rest.
Speaking of birthday parties, it would be remiss of me not to mention Homecoming Scotland 2009, an event masterminded by Visit Scotland to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns‘ birth. It is of course far superior in cultrual integrity than that of my daughters celebrations, but the concept is the same! An explosion of events are planned to ricochet across the country from the Southern Borders to the Highlands and Islands right through from January to December.
So whether you are from the far flung corners of the globe, or closer to home - find a connection to Scotland and if you can’t, make one up (!) so you too have got a great excuse to join in the festivities. Fancy going the whole hog? Why not rally a group of friends together and rent a castle for your own special anniversary and be done with it!
