A castle, the Queen and Mr Brown
This is not about Queen Victoria and her faithful manservant Mr John Brown, but the present Queen Elizabeth and the Prime Minister, Mr Gordon Brown. Both will be returning to Scotland this summer to holiday.
The Queen will be in residence at Balmoral Castle in an area of Aberdeenshire known as Royal Deeside, where invited guests and members of her family will join her. The castle was purchased in 1848 by Queen Victoria and for the past 150 years as been the Scottish home of the Royal family. It is also a popular visitor attraction.
The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, may well be invited up to Balmoral as well, but for his main holidays he has chosen to return home to his house in North Queensferry in Fife, to enjoy a private family holiday.
If you have not been invited to Balmoral Castle this year, why not book your own castle for your summer holidays.
Situated between Fife and Aberdeenshire, in Angus, is a Luxury Castle Apartment, which sleeps 10 adults and the price has been reduced by 20% on any remaining weeks in August 2009, from £1,780 to £1,424. A great value Scottish holiday, which might even interest Gordon Brown!
