The 1954 MGM musical feature film “Brigadoon” still has a resonance today with many people, even if they have never seen the film, as they have an idea of this Scottish idyll. The thought of arriving in a small place in Scotland and walking back in time must have universal appeal. The basis of the film featuring two American friends hunting in Scotland is that they stumble across a remote village which only becomes visible every 100 years. After that it becomes a fun musical love story, but what has made the film have longevity is that it is still full of charm.

You can do your own singing and dancing like Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse by crossing the brig o’ doon (bridge over the river Doon), where there is this Large Mansion House which provides an excellent base for a larger group to explore this “magical” part of Scotland.
