Cold snap and weather check
The recent snowy weather in England has been heavily reported on the TV and the daily papers. Who would have thought that the wrong type of fluffy snow would stop all the channel tunnel trains and cause such chaos? What is not being reported is that Scotland is also in the grip of a cold snap at the moment. There is a large amount of snow on the ground, the ground is frozen and in the Highlands the daytime temperature is not rising above freezing.
Therefore those people who are booked into Scotts Castle Holidays properties over Christmas 2009 and New Year 2009/2010 must be aware of these conditions and deal with them accordingly. Contact the owner of the property in advance and discuss the weather conditions. Check the conditions on-line with the BBC Weather Forecast. Pack enough warm clothing. Take the time to put stronger anti-freeze into the car. Drive carefully for the conditions. Driving on snow and ice will take longer – so you may have to start your journey earlier. In the Highlands, the locals keep a small shovel in the car in case they get stuck. Like the Scouts motto – be prepared.
According to the bookmakers a “White Christmas” is one where a snowflake lands on the roof of a regional met office. In most of the northern section of Scotland, there is going to be snow. Enjoy it and have fun.
Wherever you are over these festive holidays, Scotts Castle Holidays wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
